Some Interesting Facts About India

India is a country with vast diversity and culture. The more I learn about it, more I get  interested in knowing India. India is known for it’s great heritage, pilgrimage, different religions, different languages, their Gurus, their different foods . These all create a large diversity and makes India unique. India gave the world the gift of ‘ MEDITATION’ and ‘YOGA’, the powerful tools which have became necessity in today’s time.

The taste of India is the World’s famous , the spicy, sour and sweet food is loved by the whole World. It is not only healthy but filled with the love of the motherland too. The spices of some best Indian kitchen’s are still a secret, which makes their food entirely different and tastier  and makes them World’s famous kitchens. 

There are many knowing chefs  who frame India on the television through a show  such as “David Rocco’s Dolce India”  to explore the street food of India. Makki ki roti with sarson ka saag of Punjab, Dhokla of Gujarat, Pav bhaji of Mumbai and many more make it different.

The Indian culture has it’s roots very deep inside, different religions like Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims , Jainism have their different traditions. The Hindu Religion is also described as : “Sanatana Dharma”, which means eternal faith, this religion have very complex roots. 

Such as ”DARSHAN” is important practice in the worship of Hindus, the activity of making direct visual contact with the god or goddess  while in most other religious traditions images are believed to represent the holy  personages, in Hindu practice painted and sculpted images are believed to genuinely  embody the divine and “puja” – the most common form of worships taking place in the home at the family shrine and at the Temple. 

Like as Sikhs go for puja in the Gurudwaras, Muslims practice  “Kuran”  in the Masjid all these makes India different from rest of the countries.

Languages  spoken in India too makes it different  there are as many as 22 major languages  in India, written in 13 different scripts, with around 720 dialects, therefore declaring  one of the language as the official language can create a conflict to  all of them whose  “ Mother  tongue” is different. 

Most major languages are written using a script specific to them, such as Punjabi with Gurmukhi , Assamese with Asamya, Gujarati with Gujarati, etc. 
If we talk about the dance culture of India ,from the ancient times the classical dance form is considered as a disciplined and a way to devote yourself to the God through art. 

Every state of India have different dance form but there are only six forms of classical dance recognised at the national  level which are Bharatnatyam (Tamil Nadu), Kathak (Uttar Pradesh) , Kathakali (Kerala) , Manipuri (Manipuri), Kuchipudi (Andhra Pradesh), Odissi (Odisha) and folk dances of some states  are Bhangra (Punjab) ,Garba (Gujarat) , Ghoomer (Rajasthan) , Bihu (Assam) , Lavani (Maharashtra), etc. India is the only country having  these  many dance forms which is great in it’s own.

The most interesting part is the places to be visited in India, the holy  places, the rivers, the mountains, the farms everyplace tells it’s  story  on it’s own. 

The “Lakshman Jhula” (Suspension Bridge) across river Ganges is well known because of it’s mythological aspects as it is believed that Lord Laksman, the younger brother of Lord Rama, had crossed the river Ganga at this same site, this  is the reason this bridge is constructed for all to see, isn’t it amazing and the Kumbh Mela , one of the largest  human  congregations on the earth, the pilgrimage of faith in which people gather to bathe in a sacred river held alternatively between Prayagraj, Haridwar ,Nashik and Ujjain every three years.
