Don 2 Movie Review
Shahrukh Khan along with Farhan Akhtar had their movie Don: The Chase Begins Again in 2006 and it was a blockbuster movie. Now, after 5 years, the duo has again come back with the sequel Don 2: The King Is Back that indeed marks the return of Shahrukh Khan as the anti-hero. Even before the release, it created a lot of expectations and curiosities among the movie buffs. It can be said that the movie meets the expectations of audiences to some extent and that Shahrukh is back with his rocking performance.
The film is packed with a beautifully crafted story that is complete with vigorous stunts, however one can deny that Farhan Akhtar has taken some elements from Hollywood movies like Die Hard, Ocean’s Eleven and Mission Impossible. But in all, Don 2 is a perfect package of stunts and entertainment for the Indian movie lovers.
The movie is released in both the 2D as well as 3D versions and Farhan has not just written and directed the film, he has even jotted down the dialogues of this movie.
The storyline picks up speed in post interval with great suspense. The love sequence between Priyanka Chopra and SRK even commands for whistles and appreciation as far as how it brings the required twist in story. And this is what we can be proud of Farhan Akhtar- the story writer excelling in story twisting forte.
Shahrukh has played the debonair and wicked anti hero in the movie and has greatly lived up to the expectations. He even impresses the audiences with different looks in the movie. Priyanka Chopra, as Roma too has delivered a great performance. Though the character of Lara Dutta has lesser scope than other characters, she even wins the heart of the viewers with her charm and glamour. Om Puri, Kunal Kapoor, Boman Irani along with other actors too have done great acting.
Music and cinematography
Music in the movie has lesser role with just the title track and the promotional song in climax. On the other hand, cinematography is great and matches well up to the mark of Hollywood movies. Same goes for editing and that complements well with the camera moves.
What’s good and what’s bad
Shahrukh’s performance, cinematography, editing, dialogues and direction are the strong parts of the movie. Lack of music, sluggish screenplay at the start and reduced amount of Bollywood masala are the weak points.
But in all, Don 2 is a true one-time watch for the audiences and especially for the SRK fans.
