Entire Kerala celebrates Onam today i.e. on 23^rd of August 2010. Onam is actually the spring festival that started the egalitarian Utopia in the reign of Mahabali, the mythical king when people resided in prosperity and brotherhood.

Before descending, King Mahabali secured assurance from Lord Vishnu that he will be permitted to visit his followers on Thiruvonam day of month of the Malayalam calendar each year.
