India vs NZ Third Test Nagpur : India Dominating after day 2

by Ankit Pandey on November 22, 2010

With scintillating batting performance from India’s top batsmen, the Indian team has registered psychological pressure on New Zeeland with its 292/2 in response to New Zeeland’s 193 in the first inning of the third test match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur. With this run rate, India has added advantage of 99-runs lead against the guest team.

The real picture of run rate would have been considerably more domineering had the match not been called off due to bad light. Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar remained not out with their 69 (off167 balls) and 57 (off 126-balls) respectively. The twosome contributed 100 runs partnership that took India onto respectable 292.

With commendable batting performance from  Virender Sehwag (74 off 73-balls), India got a flying start till the batting maestro was caught and bowled by Daniel Vettori . Gambhir showed his batting brilliance this time by smashing 12 fours while inching forward to his individual 78-run off 127-deliveries.

No doubt, the two batting maestros gave India a good push in the match with their salient partnership of 113 runs off 139 deliveries for the opening wicket. When Sehwag was gone,  Gambhir and Dravid pushed the initial start by contributing 79-runs partnership from 126 deliveries.
