Indians want the 1983 history recreated and are sure that the team, which the selectors put together for the upcoming Cricket World Cup in the Indian Subcontinent will surely fulfill their dreams of boasting yet another cricket world cup.
Despite frequent injuries, Sachin Tendulkar is indeed a part of the 15 member squad and Gautam Gambhir, who also made it to the dream team said that they have win the tournament it for Sachin, in honor and acknowledgement of all that the master blaster has done for the country and the game. The captaincy rests with M.S. Dhoni and Virendar Sehwag is the Vice Captain for the World Cup Series that will begin from February 19, 2011. India is in Group B along with South Africa, England, New Zealand and others.

The surprise package was Piyush Chawala, whom nobody had expected to be a part of such an important team. In fact, critics have expressed severe reservations regarding his inclusion. Yusouf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel and Virat Kohli are the welcome additions to the Indian World Cup squad.
Some regulators said that Dhoni’s touch or intervention in the selection process is very much evident in the overall composition of the team. In all, there are 8 batsmen and 7 bowlers and only a single all-rounder in the form of Yusouf Pathan.
Others who made it to the team include Ashish Nehra, Praveen Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin.
