Within days, the Kolaveri Di song became as the most searched song of India on YouTube. This is in fact the 1st Tamil movie song to be played on national radio channels and MTV India.
Kolaveri Di phenomenon started with Anirudh Ravichander along with his composition for the Tamil movie that indeed got the whole nation jiving and swinging to its beats and music. Aishwarya Rajnikanth, the director of the movie wanted the song which should emote failure and loss in love.
Kolaveri, the Tamil word, means “murderous range”. Providing a pop feel to the track, Dhanush says that the song is a cry of the man who loses his love and is thus asking the lady of his life the reason behind the murderous rage.

The 21 years old music composer actually set the song’s tune in just 5 minutes and Dhanush, the actor cum singer husband of Aishwarya started off in the broken English to sing the song in jest. The song and lyrics were finalized just within 20 minutes.
