Two days after the cloudburst and flash floods in the wee hours of Friday changed the course of life for thousands of inhabitants in Leh, there are still hundreds buried in the debris. The Indian Army, Air Force, National Disaster Response Force, and various NGOs in the country have mobilized all their resources and the rescue and relief operation are being carried on a war footing.
The relief work is being prosecuted under the instructions from the Home Ministry and the Ministry of Defence. Meanwhile, the Leh airport has been made operational again so as to resume one mode of connectivity to the rest of the world.
