Muttiah Muralitharan, the off spinner from Sri Lankan cricket team brought all curtains down on his Test career after completing the 800th Test wicket in the last match played against India on Thursday i.e. 22nd of July 2010. It was actually the ideal finish to his long cricket career which had a span of about 18 years. Muralitharan required just 8 wickets to reach the point of 800 and he very well managed to do so. He took the last wicket against India and set up a great Lankan victory this time.
Madhimalar, Murali’s wife and son Naren with other family members were present at the match too see his power for the very last time in Test cricket. There was a huge fan crowd who cheered Murali all through the final match. After having five wickets in the very fisrt innings, and then one again on Wednesday, Muralitharan reached the mark of 799 with scalp of Harbhajan on Thursday. But the spinner had to wait till the last ball in order to reach his final destination- the 800 wicket mark.
