Amidst great religious fervor, India marks the first day of Navratri festival today. Navratri, the nine day celebration is mainly dedicated to Goddess Durga in which all nine different forms of the deity are worshipped according to Hindu rituals. The festival holds deep religious reverence among Hindu community and is celebrated with great honor and respect to deity, Durga.

The celebration of Navratri marks the goddess of power which entails divine forces to generate, preserve and destroy. The nine different forms of Durga which are worshipped during Navratri are:- First Shailputri, Second Brahmacharini, Third Chandraghanta, Fourth Kushmanda, Fifth Skanda Mata, Sixth Katyayani, Seventh Kalratri, Eighth Maha Gauri and Ninth Siddhidatri.

Devotees observe nine days of fast and recite Durga Chalisa to invoke the almighty to bestow upon them power, peace and prosperity. In temples where the deity is worshipped has evening Vandana amidst chants of mantras, Aarti and devotional songs of the deity.
