Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play to step in U.S. this spring

The much awaited PlayStation Phone, popularly and officially called Sony Ericsson’s Xperia
Play is set to step up in US this spring on the Verizon Wireless network. The announcement
came out from Sony Ericsson at the Mobile World Congress Sunday in Barcelona, Spain.. the
price was still not unveiled.
The details which were released included that the first PlayStation Certified smartphone will
run the latest version of Google’s Android operating system, Gingerbread version 2.3. It
comes packed with features such as a 5.0 megapixel camera and a four-inch multi-touch
display. As and when you slid open the game pad, you’ll find a quite known D pad, two
shoulder buttons, two touch pads and four PlayStation control buttons.
Other features include entrenched Adreno GPU graphics processor and Qualcomm’s
Snapdragon processor with a 1 GHz CPU. This ensures smooth 60 frames per second game
play video.
As of now, more than 50 games have been planned to go on the playstation, out of which
famous ones include FIFA 10, Need for Speed, Sims 3, Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed.
The publishers who will be developing games for the phone include PopCap, Gameloft,
Namco Bandai, Glu Mobile, EA Mobile and Digital Chocolate among a few others.
