Tata Communications, the popular telecom service provider declared that it has now introduced the Ethernet network in 24 nodes all across the world by using 802.1ah PBB technology i.e. Provider Backbone Bridging on universal scale.
The company has selected networking gear maker, the popular Cisco for the ASR 9000 series routers as the partner for the roll out of Ethernet network.
The latest Ethernet network by Tata will carry just Ethernet traffic and offer a huge variety of services with Ethernet OAM management or Operations Administration and Maintenance.
In the months to come, Tata Communications will also be introducing an improved multipoint service that will further grow its Ethernet service from 1,000 to 10,000 Meg.
Vinod Kumar, the CO and President of Tata Communications said that they are experiencing a considerable amount of raise for the Ethernet services and that their investment in advanced technology of Cisco could not have been timelier. Also, he added that Tata Communications step towards PBB technology will make its current position even stronger as a universal leader in the field of Ethernet.
The company also claims that Ethernet Nodal diversity that is available now on Tata’s core layer switches the protected traffic automatically to alternate the node situated at different address in situations of catastrophic failure.
Surya Panditi, the GM and VP of Service Provider Routing Technology, Cisco also reported that with Cisco, Tata will offer a service enabled Ethernet network that will move forward its leadership in high bandwidth service market.
